Leeds City Centre
The impressive and dominant facade of Leeds City Hall with neo classical columns and the soaring clock tower.

The Henry Moore Institute hosts changing exhibitions and until the end of August was exhibiting a selection of roman sculptures of museum collections from across Europe including the Louvre and the Vatican.
The theme (somewhat ironically considering the latter) was of sculptures and other items depicting Antinous. |
|
|
Antinous was the last god of the pre christian western world and in his lifetime, the lover of the roman emperor Hadrian. He was deified by the emperor following his death by drowning in the Nile river. |

The impressive Victorian covered shopping arcades in the city centre, lavished with marble, tile and glass.
Leeds has a surprising array of shopping facilities form the old to the more modern and often less appealing. |
