Harewood House A superb mid 18th century neo-classical mansion with estate, both the home of the Earls of Harewood and maintained as a museum by the Harewood House Trust. The interior includes excellent Robert Adam decorated ceilings, much Chippendale furniture and a varied and important art collection. |

Sculptures to highlight the plight of child soldiers |

The collection includes paintings and sculptures by: Il Sodoma, Bellini, El Greco, Lotto, Tintoretto, Carracci, Francis Bacon and Jacob Epstein.
Recently, 18th century, hand painted Chinese wallpaper has been restored to the house. It is widely considered as the finest to have survived anywhere in the world. |

The house also contains numerous ancient Chinese ceramics from former French aristocratic collections, acquired from Paris during the period of respite between Britain and France following the Peace of Amiens of 1802, that concluded the revolutionary war.

A series of temporary and permanent exhibitions are found in the lower levels of the house. There is an impressive terrace garden with various sculptures and a view of the lake in the landscape park. The estate also includes a bird garden, walled gardens, woodland walks and a very impressive and newly replanted Himalayan garden. |
