Free Wall Paper and photo gallery: Durham 05 - Autumn 2006

 

A gallery of wallpaper and other images for general interest. This collection consists of images taken in and around the north eastern city of Durham, County Durham.

The pathways of the river and gorge with an 18th century classical folly in the form of a temple (below).

The river is much used by rowers, mainly from the University and, unfortunately, for fishing.

 

 

 

 

 

Left: Prebends Bridge, built in 1777, and a vantage point from which to view the cathedral, used by William Turner and may others since.

 

 

Below: The gatehouse of the castle.

 

 

 

 

 

Images of the mainly Georgian houses of the streets near to the cathedral. Most of these now belong to the University; occupied by it's colleges, offices and departments.
