Built between 1789 and 1796, this historic church features an unusual elliptical design and replaced an earlier medieval church, itself said to have been built on the site of a roman pantheon temple. |

The castle keep and gatehouse
|
The two significant survivors of the medieval castle here are the keep and the drastically altered gatehouse, now separated by the railway bridge that cuts through the site. Possibly one of the most unfortunately situated ancient monuments in Britain.
