The impressive west front of Ripon Cathedral The building was originally the church for a college of priests (collegiate), dissolved in the reformation, later to become a cathedral in the 19th century. |

An example of one of the elaborate 15th century carvings, known as misercords, under the stalls. This shows an almost gremlin like creature. |

Another misercord showing very unusual carving, in particular the out figures reminiscent of the imagery of Hieronymous Bosch. Similar carvings in stone can be seen in the chapter house of York Minster. |
