The site of an ancient Benedictine priory in a quiet village not far from the sea. The remains include the former chancel of the monastery now used as a parish church, plus some ruins of parts of the remainder of the church and the buildings of the cloister area.

The priory was once visited by Mary Queen of Scots. A century later, then then disused monastery was occupied by Royalist troops during the Civil War, which unfortunately provoked virtually 'point blank' bombardment by Cromwell's artillery from an adjacent hill. In view of this attack and subsequent fire it is perhaps fortunate that anything survives.
