Views of the main interior space of the temple.

The images show some of the ritual implements, musical and otherwise, and  a glimpse of some of the many thousands of statues inside. Virtually every surface is decorated in some way.

An enthroned sculpture of one of the founders of the Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism, with ceremonial objects and offerings at the front.

The main image of Buddha, the former prince turned teacher and ascetic, believed to have lived 2500 years ago in Northern India.

Below left: Elaborate brocade cloth with a ritual bell and dorje (vajra) a small sceptre seen as a symbol of power and the destruction of ignorance.

Below: One of the elaborate banner paintings (known as a thangka) on cloth and framed in brocaded silk, which depicts a number of deities.
