Croft-on-Tees church.

An ancient building beside the river tees and adjacent to the impressive stone bridge that spans it. The church contains some impressive monuments, one of which displays 17th century armour. The father of Lewis Carroll, author of Alice in Wonderland, was once rector of this church.

The church and village are located 4 miles to the south of Darlington.

Below: Osmotherley church, at the western edge of the Moors. Heavily restored but has some interesting features such as these Saxon and Romanesque sculptural fragments gathered in the porch.

A river with waterfalls in the moors.

An ancient and isolated church set in a quiet wooded valley. The churchyard was awash with daffodils and it was amazingly warm for March, especially in the Moors.

Below: Interior shots including an unusual 11th century green man carving with vines emerging from his mouth.

Bottom: The view from across the adjacent river, and, an image of an unusual gravestone from 1760, strangely carved with what appears to be runic script?
